What is PNG?
PNG is Piped Natural Gas (i.e. Natural Gas supplied through pipe line). This Natural Gas will be supplied to your houses through pipelines in the same manner as the water is supplied to your kitchen and bath room.

What is the difference between PNG and LPG?
LPG is supplied in the liquid form in cylinders while PNG is supplied through pipeline.

Is PNG more advantageous as compared to LPG?
Yes, it is more advantageous for the following reasons:

1. Constant and uninterrupted supply
You will get this natural gas through pipe line 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year without worrying about storing it.
2. Easily available
Once you are connected to it, you are absolutely without worry because it is constantly flowing through pipeline. When ever you switch on your gas stove or geyser, it is instantaneously at your service.
3. It is quite safe for your house and your family members
The pressure of PNG is only 21 millibar which is approximately 200 times less than the gas that is supplied in cylinders. Not only this, since natural gas is lighter than air, in case of any leakage, it mixes instantaneously with air and blows away. But since LPG is heavier than air, in case of any leakage, it settles down and there are chances of fire from the cylinder. Hence PNG is safer fuel for your family.
Besides this, for safety purposes, safety valves and pressure regulators are installed on the pipeline at certain intervals which have control and inspection devices to regulate the flow in the pipe line. And the pipe that is used for connection has minimal holes due to which there is very little chance of leakage of gas.
4. Free from botheration of booking the gas
Once you are connected to PNG, you don’t need to book for the gas and wait for the cylinder.
5. Its highly trustworthy
Since PNG is supplied and metered like electricity, there is no chance of it being short in weight as is the case of LPG gas which is supplied in cylinders. This natural gas is measured like electricity by meters, hence the reading registers the actual consumption that takes place.
6. The LPG cylinder occupies space in the kitchen, but in case of PNG, it is supplied through half inch pipe line which occupies almost no space or negligible space.
7. In case of this natural gas, you have to pay as per the consumption, but in case of LPG cylinder, you can not use all the gas as some quantity is left in the cylinder

How this facility of gas supply can be availed by you?
For this you have to fill a simple registration form and an agreement. After completing the formalities of registration form and an agreement, by paying the amount fixed by Gas Company, gas connection will be provided to you. A meter, a valve and a regulator shall be installed in your house. Thus you can have uninterrupted supply of safe fuel gas.

What changes are to be made in your stove for using the PNG gas?
You have to make some changes in your stove only, which shall be carried out by the authorized technician at the time of connection.

What to do with LPG cylinder after PNG?
You can get the refund of your deposit by returning the cylinder to the company.

How, when and where the gas bill will have to be deposited?
The gas bill shall be sent to you at the fixed date, which you will have to deposit before due date, at the place indicated therein by cash/cheque only.

If any change is required to be done in future in the gas line, shall it be possible?
Yes, for this you will have to make an application to the Company and the Company shall furnish the estimated cost which shall be required to be deposited.

In case of shifting to another house, can this transfer be done?
Yes, for this, the customer will have to furnish the proof of the new address and a copy of the agreement with owner. For this, of course there should be gas pipe line near the new accommodation.

Can one get more than one connection?
Yes, one can get more than one outlet. For this the customer has to make an application in writing and then deposit the amount estimated by the Company authorized personnell.

Can I get the connection, if I live in a rented house?
Yes, for this the owner in whose name the house is, has to make an application or one has to get the NOC from the owner.

What is to be furnished while making an application?
You have to furnish photocopy of any of the following two documents:
1. Last electricity bill
2. Last telephone bill
3. Passport
4. Ration Card
5. Last house tax bill
6. Certificate from the Society

Is there any likelihood of change in the rate of natural gas?
The price of natural gas is associated with our purchase cost plus tax over it. Hence, if any change in the rate/tax is made, accordingly the changes shall be effected. But PNG will always be cheaper than LPG.

What is to be done by the customer, in case of leakage in the line?
For this, the customer has to inform the office of the Company without any delay. The authorized technician shall come to check the gas connection and pipe line and rectify the leakage. You have to inform the local /city station’s emergency phone number. |
